YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A Mahoning County jury has found Akeem Hargrove, 32, guilty of Aggravated Murder with a firearm specification for his role in the 2022 killing of 26-year-old Devin Bell.
The week-long trial was held before Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas Judge Anthony D’Apolito. Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro appointed a special prosecutor to handle the case.
Bell was shot and killed in the early morning hours of December 22, 2022, at the Shell Gas Station on South Avenue. Investigators determined that Hargrove and his co-defendant, Zachary Bair, fired multiple shots into Bell’s vehicle around 2:30 a.m. Bell was pronounced dead at the scene. Hargrove was arrested in 2023 and indicted in connection with the crime.
Hargrove will be sentenced at a later date.
Prosecutor Maro praised the work of the special prosecutors and the Youngstown Police Department, stating their efforts were instrumental in securing both the arrest and conviction in this case.
