Hope: Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office Comfort Therapy Dog

Just before Christmas in 2022, a golden retriever puppy was left out in the frigid cold. She was rescued by Healthy Hearts and Paws and the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County and then adopted by the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office. Because she was such a brave little puppy, she was named Hope! Hope is Training to be a comfort therapy dog to help people in Mahoning County.

Hope goes to school almost every day at Dogsmartz Unleashed to learn how to be a comfort dog. Hope allows people who are hurt to feel better and tell their story. Hope can go to court, go to schools, and visit nursing homes!

Hope loves head scratches, tennis balls, and lying in the grass. Hope especially loves coming to work at the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office to meet new friends and help people.

Prosecutor Lynn Maro has adopted Hope’s Program and plans to see it through. Hope has been training with Dogsmartz for two years now and plans on taking her comfort therapy dog test this year
