MAN WHO KILLED YOUNGSTOWN TEEN SENTENCED TO 20-25 ½ YEARS IN PRISON

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (FRIDAY, FEB 14, 2024) – Carlos Flores will spend the next 20-25 ½ years in prison for the shooting and the death of Rashaud Biggs, Jr. This sentence was handed down after Flores plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and two firearm specifications. Flores shot and killed Biggs outside of a gas station located at South and East Avondale Avenues on July 14, 2019.

According to Prosecutor Gina DeGenova, who was in the courtroom for the sentencing today, “Carlos Flores was brought to justice today. His callous act robbed Rashaud Biggs, Jr. of a future and his family of a lifetime of memories with him. His killer will now pay for his crimes. I commend the work of my staff, Criminal Chief Rob Andrews, and Assistant Prosecutor Joe Maxin, for their hard work on this case.”

As part of his plea deal, Flores waived any rights he would have had on appeal, finally brining the family some closure after many years of waiting. DeGenova added, “My heart goes out to the Biggs family during this very difficult time.”
