(Youngstown, Ohio)—41-year-old John Bartos entered a guilty plea that includes 18 Felony Theft counts, including theft from a person in a protected class and grand theft. Bartos is a contractor who would take jobs and not complete them, leaving homeowners with partially completed work within their homes. Bartos would still take the payments from his clients even though the job was not finished.
Bartos’ charges include:
- 11 counts of Theft (Felony to the fifth degree)
- 1 count of Grand Theft (Felony to the fourth degree)
- 6 counts of Theft from a person in a protected class (Felony to the fourth degree)
Bartos plead guilty and paid $56,176 in restitution before sentencing. Bartos is being placed on 4 years of community control and ordered to pay his victims the remaining $5,000 in restitution. Bartos must also serve 100 hours of community service at Habitat for Humanity.
