Jury finds Youngstown man guilty for Murder

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Friday, April 19th, 2024) – 20-year-old Mehki Venable was found guilty for the murder of Jacob Moore. A jury found Venable guilty of murder, with an accompanied Firearm Specification following a week of trial.


“I’m sorry that Jacob Moore’s family had to deal with his senseless murder and their heartbreak,” said Prosecutor Gina DeGenova. “We are pleased with the outcome of the jury’s decision and would like to thank the hard-working prosecutors who worked tirelessly during this trial.”


In September of 2022, Venable shot and killed Moore on the city’s north side. Venable was meeting with Moore for an arraigned fight. Shortly after meeting up, Venable shot Moore and fled the scene. Venable will be sentenced at a later date.
