April 10th, we were invited to the Pinwheels for Prevention Event, where Mahoning County Children Services honored several organizations and contributors across the county who continue to combat child abuse.
We heard from several speakers including Regina Alston, who’s an author and founder of Lena’s Adventures. Lena’s Adventure supports foster and adopted children by providing many resources.
The event also featured talented students from Youngstown State University. The YSU Jazz Ensemble lent their musical talents for the morning.
April is National Child Abuse Month, and the pinwheels represent an individual who provided a voice on behalf of an abused child.
