Youngstown, Ohio – Kyashia Madison, 29, has been sentenced to 20 – 24 years in prison for her role in a fatal crash that claimed the life of 19-year-old Danasia Douglas and injured three others. Madison’s blood alcohol content was found to be three times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Maureen Sweeney handed down the sentence following Madison’s conviction on multiple charges, including one count of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, a first-degree felony; three counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, a second-degree felony; Endangering Children, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, both first-degree misdemeanors. Madison entered a guilty plea on March 3, 2025.
The charges stem from a crash that occurred on August 17, 2023, at the intersection of Victor and Commonwealth Avenues in Youngstown.
Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro emphasized the devastating consequences of impaired driving.
“Choosing to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a reckless decision that endangers everyone on the road. This was a preventable tragedy,” said Prosecutor Maro. “I commend the Youngstown Police Department and assistant prosecutors Patrick Fening and Robert Andrews for their dedication and hard work on this case.”
