Mother and Boyfriend Found Guilty of Child Abuse by Mahoning County Judge

Youngstown, OH – A Mahoning County Judge has found Christopher Hill and Maleka Curry guilty on charges of Felonious Assault and Endangering Children. Assistant Prosecutors Daniel Yozwiak and Caitlyn Andrews successfully prosecuted this case. Hill and Curry waived a jury trial. Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge John M. Durkin heard the case and found both guilty of the charges as indicted.

In May of 2024, Curry and Hill were arrested for their role in the abuse of a teenager. The teen had documented injuries, which left scarring for an extended period of time.

Prosecutor Lynn Maro credited Assistant Prosecutors Andrews and Yozwiak, as well as Detective Hannah Short with the Youngstown Police Department, for their efforts, which led to the successful prosecution of this case.

“Judge Durkin’s decision and our prosecutors’ efforts highlight our team’s dedication to protecting Mahoning County’s most vulnerable,” said Prosecutor Lynn Maro.

Curry and Hill will be sentenced on May 8th at 11 am.
