FORMER COUNSELING CENTER OWNER SENTENCED ON FELONY CHARGES

YOUNGSTOWN, (OH) – The one-time owner of the now-closed “Braking Point” addiction recovery center in Austintown will spend the next three years on probation following his sentencing this morning on recent felony charges. Ryan Sheridan had entered guilty pleas for counts of attempted abduction and domestic violence on Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

He was arrested back in October following an incident in Austintown.

In court this morning, Sheridan’s victim asked for probation. Assistant Prosecutor Kyle Hilles recommended two years in prison for Sherridan. Judge Maureen Sweeney then imposed a suspended prison sentence of 18 months on each of his charges, attempted abduction and domestic violence. Sheridan has been in custody ever since his arrest because of a federal probation violation hold stemming from his 2020 sentencing in US District Court in a Medicaid health care fraud investigation. Sheridan now faces further potential sanctions from federal authorities.

Mahoning County Prosecutor credits the work of Assistant Kyle Hilles and Austintown Police in securing this successful outcome.
