Man Sentenced to 6-9 years in prison following Rape Conviction

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – 37-year-old Chad Scofinsky was sentenced to six to nine years in prison following a guilty plea to one count of Rape. Upon completion of his sentence, he will be required to register as a tier III sex offender, the highest, most stringent registration, which requires him to register every 90 days for the remainder of his life. Scofinsky was sentenced by Judge John Durkin. This was an agreed-upon sentence, which the court adopted and imposed.

The victim agreed to the resolution and declined to proceed to trial due to the sensitive nature of the offenses and the trauma associated with testifying. The victim’s representative read a statement in court, expressing hope that “it sits heavy with him (Scofinsky),” for what he has done to the victim and their family. The case involved a child victim, with the offenses occurring between March 2022 and April 2024.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutors Kyle Hilles and Caitlyn Andrews.

Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro thanked her Assistant Prosecutors and the Youngstown Police Department for their dedication throughout the investigation and prosecution of this case.
